Drinkability

We have been making Chardonnay from the Edna Valley for twenty years and have found the only way to produce complex, multi-faceted wines that have the texture and finish to stay compelling from first glass to last is to go through the arduous process of fermenting in expensive French oak barrels. We debuted the West Slope label with the 2001 vintage, to stellar reviews (#26 in Wine Spectators top 100 Wines of 2003) and are finishing with 2004, an even better vintage.

Yeast notes from “sur lies” aging along with citrus and melon emerge in the aroma.  Full bodied with very light oak shadings; the flavors are big in distinctive Edna Valley earthiness.  Tangerine, lemon and minerals linger on the finish.

Integration, harmony and completeness of elements are this wines strengths.
