Mount Eden Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 1989

Tasting Notes

Release Date: Spring 1992

Our Lathweisen Ridge designation is reserved for wine produced from our ten-year old estate vineyard so names. Raspberry, mint, blueberry, mountain sage, briar, vanilla, black currant, lavender, and sarsaparilla, the flavors of this Cabernet are as varied as they are delicious. Spicy, rich, and long in the aftertaste, the tannins are softer and impression brighter than in our traditional old vine estate bottled cuvee, yet with all the intensity and concentration expected of our low yielding mountain vineyards.

The Underground Wine Journal - November 1991

The 1989 Cabernet Sauvignon, Lathweisen Ridge, “Young Vines” is medium-dark in color and has faint herbal aromas tinged with vanilla. There is very good rounded fruit on the palate, with good backbone and a tannic finish. (VG)
