Lastly, the outstanding 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon (77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Malbec) spent two years in a mix of French and American oak. Vibrant purple, with classic cassis, bay leaf, vanilla, and spice, this puppy hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, nicely integrated acidity, moderate tannins, and rock solid balance. It’s worth a case purchase and is ideal for drinking over the coming 10-15+ years

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is bold and pungent in the glass. An explosion of aromatics and fruit that makes a strong opening statement. Savory herb, leather, smoke, tobacco and licorice add shades of nuance to the dark fleshed fruit. The firm tannins need time to soften, but the 2015 is unquestionably a winner. Moreover, from a value perspective, the 2015 is impossible to beat within the context of CA Cabernet Sauvignon. Yields are down a whopping 50%.

Intense aromas of pine, cedar and incense meet with roasted black plum, deep violet and a hint of lavender on the layered nose of this bottling, which includes 16% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Malbec. The woody flavors show on the palate alongside red plums and white pepper, all encased in a chalky texture. —M.K.
