This is a dark colored wine with a magnificent nose, and an incredible array of complex flavors. Well-made to a fault, this libation is big, rich, and finely textured as few Cabernets hope they an ever be. One of the finest wines of the vintage, it will live for another 15 years. It was aged in French Oak for two years, and unfiltered.

Medium-dark ruby; intense, cedary, slightly herbaceous, ripe current aromas with notes of black pepper; medium-full to full body; big, coarse, cedary, herbaceous, woody, peppery, berry fruit flavors; medium-full to full tannin; rough on the finish; slightly lingering aftertaste. Above average to superior quality. Highly recommended.

Lean and firm, with a tight core of herb, black cherry and cedary flavors that turn supple on the finish, although the tannins are tight on the finish. Best after 1997

The 1991 Old Vine Reserve is a worthy successor to the monumental 1990. A beautifully generous nose of leather, cassis, and spicy oak, flavors long and concentrated, like a great bite of roasted venison.

From the original plantings on Mount Eden over thirty-five years ago, this is a very limited production wine. As is typical, five to ten years of development in the bottle can be expected with a drinking plateau for another ten to twenty years.
