Tasting Notes

Release Date: Spring 1983

The hallmark of this wine is its classic balance. The juxtaposition of power and elegance mark this vintage as one of the finest in our history. All of the composite elements, the traditional barrels fermentation in new Sirugue and François Frères barrels, the malolactic fermentation, and the firm acidity harmonize with the intriguing citrus-anise fruit qualities that distinguish Mount Eden Chardonnay year after year.

In tasting his wine with different dishes we have found it to be best place with the main course, such as roast leg of lamb or boiled lobster. Its body and depth of character demand found of equal weight. Although showing beautifully at present, this vintage is an excellent candidate for five to ten years of cellaring.
